Aztek re-secures retail and organic industry accreditations

The New Year has provided more than fresh food for thought for Hertfordshire-based Aztek Logistics, after it re-secured two new major industry accolades recognising its ability to offer high-end services to the retail sector and top-level storage and distribution solutions for the growing organic foods market.

The expanding business, part of the award-winning Pallet-Track network, picked up the industry ‘kite marks’ – the British Retail Consortium (BRC) AA Standard storage and distribution accreditation and the Organic Food Federation certification – after extensive and far-reaching audits into its supply chain practices and procedures to guarantee the highest industry standards.

The business, which operates across the food and drink sector, re-secured the accreditations as part of its ongoing commitment to best practice and as a demonstrative way of reassuring customers of industry-leading compliance.

The BRC award, secured after a two-day root and branch physical audit at its Letchworth Garden City base, is a common-sense risk-based analysis of storage and distribution facilities and vehicles, while the Organic Food Federation standard is only bestowed upon production, processing, warehouse and storage businesses able to demonstrate they are at the forefront of promoting organic methods and best practice within the sector.

Managing director of Aztek Logistics, Stuart Charter, said: “Re-securing the BRC AA Standard along with the Organic Food Federation accreditation is a major boost for our business, as more customers expect the highest standards of service across the supply chain as a hygiene factor when they are tendering for new logistics partnerships.

“The BRC AA Standard really sets a business apart from its competitors and as you would expect, achieving such recognition goes above and beyond simple industry rubber stamping.

Both accreditations represent top-level recognition of quality only achieved following far-reaching audits of businesses seeking the standard. I am delighted to report that we passed with flying colours, which will give our existing future customers piece of mind when it comes to selecting their supply chain partner.”

These are not the first top-flight accolades for Aztek Logistics this year; the business also retained the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Gold standard for the safety and environmental best practice in the supply chain, for the fifth consecutive year.

At the same time, it also confirmed its retention of the FORS Bronze award as part of the annual root and branch compliance audit.

Both FORS awards recognise Aztek’s proactive approach, including ongoing investment in nine new FORS Gold standard trucks, comprising MAN tractor units, new MAN 18-tonne rigids and its first 18-tonne Volvo rigids.

This follows a series of investments across the business, including the opening of a fifth warehouse, taking its storage space to 140,000 sq. ft.
