The new year has brought new hope and opportunities for Aztek Logistics, which has retained the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Gold standard, the top accolade for the safety and environmental best practice in the supply chain, for the fifth consecutive year.
At the same time, the Hertfordshire-based business, a member of the award-winning Pallet-Track network, also confirmed its retention of the FORS Bronze award as part of the annual root and branch compliance audit.
The gold award is increasingly significant to many sectors, including the construction industry, where Aztek has been working with customers involved in high-profile national transport infrastructure projects.
Based in Letchworth Garden City, Aztek’s achievement recognises innovation including ongoing investment in nine new FORS Gold standard trucks, including MAN tractor units, new MAN 18-tonne rigids and its first 18-tonne Volvo rigids.
This follows a series of investments across the business, including the opening of a fifth warehouse, taking its storage space to 140,000 sq. ft.
“Retaining the gold and bronze standards present a major boost for the business – and we already hold the silver accreditation,” said managing director Stuart Charter.
“It is important, as we tender for new business, to be the best that we can be. The awards are testament to the hard work of the team, particularly operations manager Duncan Pannell, who has worked tirelessly with all of our team to ensure our compliance was up to the required level to meet the challenges.
“But there is no rest in this business and, with silver up for renewal next year, we will seek to maintain our unblemished record across all of our health and safety and environmental commitments.”
FORS, which offers gold, silver and bronze awards, is a method of recognising fleet operations that comply with the requirements of the FORS Standard, which is based on lawfulness, safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
FORS encourages operators to take a more forensic view of their business to identify areas of strength to be exploited and improvements to be made. A successful assessment provides a business with reassurance their operation is being run safely, efficiently and in an environmentally sound manner.
